Where they fell

His dreams had been knocked out of him once more by the often cruel shake of reality.

And responsibility held his arms back so that he couldn’t pick them up.

And as he watched them skip and scatter across the floor, they lit up like diamond stars under a bright white moon.

Because night falls when dreams go missing.

Even though he couldn’t retrieve what he had lost, he kept watch over where they landed.

A keen eye so that if ever the time came, he would know where to find them.
